Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Delsan-AIM is looking for a full-time heavy equipment mechanic to maintain and repair its heavy equipment fleet in Laval.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic Role

Under the supervision of the mechanical department manager, the heavy equipment mechanic maintains, diagnoses and repairs our equipment fleet. This role contributes directly to the reliability, safety and availability of the machines used on our job sites.

Main Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic problems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on excavators and other heavy equipment.
• Maintain and repair hydraulic and mechanical attachments used in demolition.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings and technical manuals.
• Identify required parts and prepare parts requests.
• Perform basic welding work when required.
• Keep tools and the work area clean, organized and safe.
• Work with mechanics, supervisors and operators to reduce downtime.
• Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Complete work orders and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Perform any other related tasks based on operational needs.

What We’re Looking For in a Heavy Equipment Mechanic

• Relevant experience in heavy equipment mechanics, diesel mechanics or a related field.
• Good knowledge of mechanics and hydraulic systems; knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to diagnose problems and work independently.
• Ability to read schematics and technical documentation.
• Resourcefulness, attention to detail, team spirit and a commitment to safety.
• Valid driver’s licence.
