Simcoe Street South Demolitions

Project Overview

We have been awarded by BCP the demolition and asbestos/mold abatement of five properties located at 399, 415, 424, 426, and 428 Simcoe Street South in Oshawa, Ontario. The work forms part of a larger Metrolinx initiative to widen the existing rail corridor. We will be starting the work in the next couple of weeks.

Scope of Work

399 Simcoe Street South
A three-storey detached residential structure requiring asbestos abatement of textured plaster ceilings before demolition.

415 Simcoe Street South
A single-storey structure formerly operating as a Tim Hortons, scheduled for full demolition.

424 Simcoe Street South
A one-storey commercial structure with a basement. Asbestos-containing tar was identified on the exterior wall, requiring an outdoor Type 3 asbestos procedure with full air monitoring.

426 Simcoe Street South
Another one-storey commercial structure with a basement. Asbestos-containing mastic was detected in the roof flashing, requiring specialized abatement prior to demolition.

428 Simcoe Street South
A two-storey apartment building with a basement that presented extensive mold damage. Abatement was required to allow hand demolition of the east upper level before machine demolition could begin. This property also included a rooftop billboard sign, which we are responsible for safely lowering to grade with a crane after the adjacent demolitions are complete.
