Vale Clarabelle Mine

As part of a major upgrade to the crusher grinding circuit at the Vale Clarabelle Mine in Sudbury, Ontario, Delsan-A.I.M. was contracted to remove the elevated 24BC13 conveyor and its enclosing steel-framed gallery. The 780-foot conveyor system connected the Crusher Building to the Fine Ore Building and was supported by six (6) steel-lattice bent frames and an intermediary tower.

Vale Clarabelle Mine

Imperial Oil Limited

We successfully completed a 16-month project to demolish an out-of-service lubricant manufacturing facility within an operational oil refinery. The scope included vessels, columns, stacks, pipe racks, piping, and 29 storage tanks (15,000–100,000 barrels). The project was executed with strict safety and environmental protocols, ensuring the protection of workers, the public, and nearby infrastructure while minimizing disruption to refinery operations.

Imperial Oil Limited

We successfully completed a 16-month project to demolish an out-of-service lubricant manufacturing facility within an operational oil refinery. The scope included vessels, columns, stacks, pipe racks, piping, and 29 storage tanks (15,000–100,000 barrels). The project was executed with strict safety and environmental protocols, ensuring the protection of workers, the public, and nearby infrastructure while minimizing disruption to refinery operations.

Former Molson Brewery

We are leading the first phase of a multi-year renovation at the Former Molson Brewery site in Montreal. The project will convert the historic brewery into nearly 6 million square feet of mixed residential and commercial space. Delsan-AIM’s work focuses on preparing over 170,000 square feet for renovation, including hazardous material abatement, selective demolition, and removal of equipment and systems, while preserving key historical elements like the Molson tower and clock.

Shell Sarnia Manufacturing Centre Polypropylene Plant

We successfully completed the decommissioning and demolition of the Shell Sarnia Manufacturing Centre Polypropylene Plant in two phases. The facility housed process equipment, structures, buildings, pipe racks, piping, and conduits used in the production process.

Vale Canada Limited

We successfully completed the demolition of the M Floor Roaster Flue at the Vale Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery. The flue, spanning four levels within an active smelter, measured 24’-8” wide by 107’-6” long, with a large duct cross-section. Constructed with over 1 million lbs. of structural clay tile and refractory brick, the project required detailed planning and coordination with smelter personnel to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

Stelco Inc. Hamilton Works

We have successfully completed a large-scale, multi-year decommissioning and demolition project at the Stelco Inc. Hamilton Works steel mill. This complex operation involved the removal and safe disposal of designated substances and hazardous materials from various buildings, structures, and equipment slated for demolition.

General Motors CAMI Assembly Plant

We undertook a major equipment and infrastructure tear-out project at the General Motors CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. This demanding initiative prepared the facility for the installation of a new paint shop, requiring precise coordination with the general contractor and other subtrades. Operations were conducted 24/7, employing two shifts with up to 50 personnel per shift during peak activity.

We were contracted by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to decommission and demolish a former paper mill along the Exploits River in Grand Falls – Windsor. The mill, operational from 1909 to 2009, required safe removal of hazardous materials and structures, all while ensuring the uninterrupted operation of its hydroelectric generating facility.

2015-2016

In 2014, we entered into an Asset Works and Purchase Agreement to purchase and remove assets from the former Process Plant Area of the Brunswick Mine Site. Located on 1,030 hectares in northeastern New Brunswick, the mine ceased operations in April 2013. It had historically produced zinc, lead, copper, and silver.

In 2012, we partnered with Shell Products Canada Inc. to decommission and demolish aboveground equipment at the former Shell Montreal East Refinery, which ceased operations in 2010. The refinery had a peak capacity of 161,000 barrels per day, while Shell continued terminal operations on the adjacent property.

2012-2014

Xstrata Kidd Metallurgical Site

In 2011, we partnered with Xstrata Copper Canada to purchase, decommission, and dismantle assets from the former Kidd Metallurgical Site in Timmins, Ontario. Completed under a tight client timeline, the project highlighted Delsan-AIM’s expertise in efficient and safe demolition. The site featured 35 buildings spanning 108,000 m², including a copper smelter and refinery, a zinc refinery, a cadmium plant, an indium plant, and two acid plants.

2011

Xstrata Kidd Metallurgical Site

In 2011, we partnered with Xstrata Copper Canada to purchase, decommission, and dismantle assets from the former Kidd Metallurgical Site in Timmins, Ontario. Completed under a tight client timeline, the project highlighted Delsan-AIM’s expertise in efficient and safe demolition. The site featured 35 buildings spanning 108,000 m², including a copper smelter and refinery, a zinc refinery, a cadmium plant, an indium plant, and two acid plants.
